One of the better SFRW options when this special week rolls around. Been going to such restaurant weeks when it was Dine About Town. Love everything they offer on the menu. There's something for everyone. When you're craving escargots and remarkable French fare with great service, dine here. Unique spot in SF, don't want to spill your date nights. Find out for yourselves. 'Til next time ~ cheers and see you on Yelp (YELP)!

Cafe Bastille was a go-to for good French bistro food and atmosphere in downtown SF. We were apprehensive when we learned that it merged into the B44 space and offered both menus. However, it was great to see a very similar atmosphere, and our favorite Cafe Bastille faces! We opted for the Spanish B44 menu. The fabulous shrimp tapa arrived sizzling in a small skillet. (We wanted to try it based on a Yelp video.) Also delicious were the brandada, the paella Barceloneta with tender octopus, the tasty beef brisket cannelloni, and chocolate ganache cake.

Cafe Bastille is a great spot for a nice dinner whether a date, for work work or just to celebrate. The food is great as any French food would be. Rich, delicious, hearty and comforting. The ambiance is classy but not stuffy and the staff was nice. Another big plus of this place is it's in the same building as B44, a Spanish restaurant, so you can enjoy French with friends who don't. We sat inside but the outside was warm and tranquil if that's more your style.

Bastille Day every year couldn't be better enough with food and culture. I got to see how some couples dance to the rhythm, especially a mime who danced with her imaginary friend. Most of us hanging out in Belden Place had to wear their berets after receiving them for free. But what's also great about that special day were the Bastille Day specials in all the restaurants of Belden Place, including Café Bastille! It's better that I made reservations ahead of time since the tables were almost full. It's good to talk to anyone near me who happened to have good spirits and good energy while the music played smoothly. Plus, I didn't hesitate to order which appetizer and entreé like after I looked at the menu many times back then. Having no cocktail nor desserts helped save my time and money. As a local traveler, I'm only after the specials, so you'd be surprised what I really have. Escargot Bouguignon, chef's kiss! These half dozen le petit land snails were mild in flavor. Seasonings like garlic and scallions made these mollusks a savory hit. In every French restaurants, I was surprised many people eaten escargots. Modules Marinieres Mussels would be my entreé if I were to save some pieces of bread for dipping its white wine sauce. With a pair of lemon wedges, these accented mussels packed a different note that surprised me the most. Why savor meat entreé on every dinner night when you get to try something "nouveau". Wish I personally have travel plan for Paris, but I still have my family to look after. Montreal might be my future trip since my dad had been there during adulthood. So, it's better that I try French food while in my big city. Café Bastille is the best place to dine if I barely find any good ones.

A great place for a nice meal during your work hour! I got steak and fries that was drenched in the most amazing peppercorn sauce. I even had enough to take home for dinner. I left extremely happy. It does get super busy during lunch, but my waitress was still super sweet. They have the perfect outdoor seating with heaters!

I had a dinner reservation here for restaurant week back in April 2022. I had ordered off a prix fixe menu. First Course: Beef Empanadas with Baby Lettuce Salad, Duo of Salmon Tartar (Fresh and Smoked Salmon, Crème Fraiche, Dill Oil) Second Course: Fish over spinach with a tomato sauce and crispy bacon Third Course: Dark Chocolate Ganache Cake, Lemon Mascarpone Cake Food: The empanadas were served warm and delectably toasty. Those were quickly devoured. The salmon tartar was a nice appetizer, but I wished there was more. The fish was nicely cooked. My favorite was the lemon mascarpone cake. The dark chocolate ganache cake was decadent. Service: Phenomenal. I had accidentally left my card behind and the staff had kept it safe. Ambiance: Café Bastille is a cozy spot for a bite with a companion.

I came here on a Friday evening with two other friends. We stumbled upon this place after seeing the Glow SF art installations around the Financial District. It was one of the restaurants located at what is known as "Belden Place" in SF. A neat little alley lined with 4-6 restaurants with various cuisines. Our group had a picky eater, so this was our perfect one-stop spot. We sat on the outdoor patio and shared the following: - moules marineiers $22 - cafe bastille salad $16 - patatas bravas $11 - pork belly app $14 And a bottle of Albarino was the server's suggestion for a dry finish wine. So I thought it was a french restaurant but realized they also had tapas and paellas on the menu, which made me think it was Spanish. They are not fusion or modern. They have different dishes from those two countries on the menu. A bit of an identity crisis if you ask me. That didn't impact my experience of the food and service, though. The server had a very french-forward attitude, non-chalet, no rush, and didn't bring the tab until you asked for it. The breads at the table and the food was confusing, the salad had avocado and hearts of palm in it (I love both), and the moules were pretty ordinary. The pork belly had an Asian twist, and the papas bravas were perfectly crisp. I enjoyed the place, but the concept has a lot going on. I might come back for its laid-back, casual, European cafe-style vibes, but open to checking out the other restaurant in this alley first.

Ok, been eating out at this point every night, this was the last time on my trip, Except I went more to keep a friend company than have another big meal. One problem , I was blown away by the options, and when I saw the rabbit in a cream-mustard sauce??? I had ti try it. Our waiter said that was his personal favorite on the menu, The flavor, presentation, and attentive waiter (tall French accent, can't remember name) made the night! Next time in SF I'm tryin the duck confit (if they do rabbit that well, I have to).

It's restaurant week! We had a reservation for dinner yesterday around 7pm. We decided to go with their restaurant week menu. Menu for dinner is $45 per person for a 3 course meal. We were given a basket of bread while waiting for our order. The bread tasted stale and the oil to dip the bread in didn't have any taste to it. Service here was quick. We didn't have to wait long for our order. For the first course, my boyfriend chose the beef empanadas and I got the salmon tartar. The beef empanadas are served with baby lettuce salad and pepper sauce. I never tried empanadas before so I got to try a little piece of it and it was so good. The only complaint my boyfriend had was that they were small. As for the salmon tartar, this is fresh and smoked salmon, with crème fraiche and dill oil. I didn't know that the fish in this dish would be raw. I only tried a little bit of it. It did taste good but I couldn't eat raw fish though. The second course, we got the pork tenderloin and pan seared branzino. The pork tenderloin comes with garlic mashed potatoes, whole grain mustard sauce and sautéed dried fruit. My boyfriend really like this dish. He said this was the best he has ever tasted. The dish tasted succulent and the sauce was good. The pan seared branzino comes with roasted tomato sauce, sautéed spinach with pine nuts & raisins and crispy jamon serrano. I never had branzino before. I actually had to look up branzino to find out it was a type of fish. This dish was really good too. The third course, we got the chocolate ganache cake and lemon mascarpone cake. The chocolate ganache cake was super delicious. It did not taste so sweet too. The lemon mascarpone cake was good as well but the chocolate ganache was the best one. Overall, we enjoyed our experience here. The food was delicious and service was great.
